ABOUT Dr. MATTHEW TORRES
I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and graduate of Life Chiropractic College West. During my time there I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients and conditions. My work ranged from helping with acute and chronic occupational injuries, guiding patients to improve their general health and wellbeing, increasing athletic performance, and even providing treatment for some of the school's rugby players. When I begin with a patient, I look at all factors in their life that could be causing their problem. By taking into account each person's symptoms, lifestyle, injuries, nutrition, and other factors contributing to their health, I am able to find the key areas that need to be addressed in order to alleviate their symptoms and optimize their body’s health. I then address these core areas affecting their health by using a combination of chiropractic adjustments, myofascial release techniques, neuromuscular reeducation, acupressure therapy, emotional release techniques, and nutritional supplementation.
I have always been passionate about helping others and navigated multiple careers in the health field prior to finding my calling. In college, I suffered from a knee injury and went through the medical system but was left without answers or relief. The only option I was presented with was to take anti-inflammatory drugs as needed to help mask the pain. I was disheartened. I was a healthy 20-year-old who was passionate about fitness and now unable to exercise without severe knee pain. Not being satisfied with the care I received, I felt compelled to look for alternative treatments. This experience led me on a search to heal myself. I became fascinated with all aspects of the human body. After successfully recovering from my knee injury, I used what I had learned to help people around me. I found my passion; I knew I wanted to help others improve their health, heal injuries, and maximize the body's ability to function. I became a personal trainer while I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Science. From there I found chiropractic, which aligned well with my philosophy and view of the body.

I further realized how my health could be improved after personally receiving chiropractic care. My body felt better than ever before, minor aches were gone, and the headaches I had almost daily disappeared. I was amazed to see how much my quality of life improved. This fueled a desire to give back to those around me, utilizing chiropractic to help enhance their lives. While attempting to treat bodily pain and dysfunction in chiropractic school, I realized that some people wouldn’t experience optimal results from standard treatments; this led me to find Applied Kinesiology. Through learning Applied Kinesiology, I was able to help people that didn’t respond to typical treatment techniques. I learned that dysfunction and a lack of balance in the body can manifest in many ways. By addressing emotional stress, chemical stressors, gut dysbiosis, and supporting the body with proper nutrition and chiropractic care, people are able to recover from injuries and ailments that they thought they would have to live with forever. I have seen the toll health battles can have on people and their loved ones. Nagging pains, brain fog, and other symptoms can impede our ability to enjoy our life and connect with those around us. It is my passion to help others restore their health so they can begin to reconnect with their hobbies, relationships, and goals; and ultimately live their life to the fullest.
